We've just been to see an existing client about a new project but whilst we were at their property, me and Tracy took a look at the progress of their kitchen extension that we drew and obtained planning and building regulations approval on their behalf.

The kitchen looks stunning especially with the vaulted roof and the porch will look great when completed.

The client is delighted.

I've just received an enquiry regarding a building regulations application for an extension (which has been drawn by someone else) and I was asked whether he should submit a 'building notice' or 'full plans' building regulations application and straight away I replied 'full plans'.

This type of application confirms the specification at an early stage which allows the project to be built without unnecessary hassle or the building control inspector rejecting a material once installed. I would say that the vast majority of building control inspectors prefer the 'full plans' route as well.

I'm off to see the client tomorrow to help him out with the 'full plans' application, to compile the building notes and to arrange the structural engineer's details.

Please give me a call on 01395 266 666 if you have any queries regarding planning or building regulations.
We are going to start showing samples of our issued work as we proceed through 2014 here on our website, Hopefully, you'll be able to see the sort of work we undertake.

Please visit the 'ISSUED WORK' tab.

Can a look at this clever and simple to use 'interactive guide' about 'permitted planning rights': www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/house

Although you may not need planning permission, you can still apply for a 'certificate of lawfulness' (in most cases) which is a legal document confirming what you are proposing to do is permitted and of course, building regulations will still need to be complied with in most cases too.

Give me a call on 01395 266 666 so that we can discuss your ideas.

I can just feel that 2014 is going to be a busy year and we like being busy.

If you have any plans at all to extend your property, please give me a call as I am always happy to offer a FREE APPRAISAL and I am always more than happy to come along and to discuss your ideas and where possible I will add my own suggestions too!. There's no pressure to proceed any further but at least you will have a better idea of what is and isn't likely to be acceptable regarding planning.

Please give me a call on 01395 266 666 or email me at [email protected] and I will try and arrange an appointment which is convenient to you whether that is an evening or even weekends.

I look forward to hearing from you and to discuss your exciting plans.

All the best

A huge congratulations to Tracy who although was not feeling the 'half-marathon love' came through to finish the Torbay event earlier today in a personal best time. Well done Tracy.

A huge well done to Tracy on completing the Plymouth Half-Marathon earlier today in a very impressive time of 1 hour 56 minutes and 16 seconds (especially with very little running preparation).

A great effort Tracy. The boys and me are very proud.

Back to work 'with a bang' after a very active weekend with the family including such activities as circuits, air rifling, mountain biking and rugby! It's nice to get back to my desk to rest!

Today I'm off to look at two new projects including a large extension in Budleigh and a project in Ipplepen where the client wants to replace some garage roofs and construct a replacement carport.

This weeks projects to complete and issue include a loft conversion and extension to a property just around the corner from me, building regulations drawings for a new dwelling in Exeter and two loft conversions for ATTIC DESIGNS (one in Ottery St. Mary and one in Bovey Tracey). I'm a little bit under pressure as I'm out of the office on Wednesday and plus the lads are still off this week!

Lots to do, so I had better get on with it. HAVE A GREAT WEEK.
The VINNARRY sponsored Exmouth under 11's rugby team got narrowly beaten in the Devon Shield Final at Kingsbridge today. The team started the day poorly getting knocked out of the cup tournament early but soon gathered momentum to reach the final with some impressive performances.

Well done lads.
Whilst working in the office earlier today (listening to BBC Radio Devon), I sent in a TWEET to the radio station who were discussing the 'pro's and con's' of TWITTER. I commented how TWITTER has worked well for me, even helping me gain addition work.

Within seconds of sending my TWEET, I was contacted be the radio station who asked if I was willing to join the debate and be interviewed 'live' on the radio which of course I said YES as I'm always keen to promote our services.

Please listen to my brief interview HERE (just click on 'listen now' and slide the bar over to 1 hour 14 minutes and 25 seconds; and thanks to the Sugar Babes who were my 'warm-up' act!)
